Make a wish

We all were children…or we still are, it depends :)

One thing is sure — we all wish something, dream about the journey or to become someone, to be with someone, to have something, you name it.

I don’t want to say that with the end of childhood our dreams are gone, not at all, they are just more accurate, defined, SMART (for guru’s of self-management) and more or less we understand that we cannot count on a magician or Santa to make them true.

We have grown up, but on our planet there are children who wish something so wholeheartedly and sincerely, and many of them are afraid that they will not have time to make them come true. Every 20 minutes one child in the world is diagnosed with critical illness [1] and they can lose their hope.

Recently I started to work in the company who cares, and this is how i got to now “Make-a-wish”, an ONG recognised by United Nations which grants the wishes of children, aged 3 to 17, suffering from serious illnesses. They address children whose lives are made difficult by the severity of the illness and the treatment they are undergoing. The wish brings hope, courage and joy in difficult times and making it come true helps a child to go through this hard period of their life.

I write this post not to make a promotion of charity organisation, but to share my inspiration and belief, that small actions like that can make this world better, especially in the eyes of that one child whom we can help.

Actually, it’s not only one child but 500,000 all around the world, who’s wishes were granted by more than 43,000 volunteers in 50 countries.

Wishes can be different: someone wants to meet Justin Bieber, or to have a new computer, or to jump with a parachute, but what matters the most, is a sincere smile at the end and memories for all the long and happy life.
